EDUCATION:
This will be Mrs. Martin’s 6th year at Grapevine Middle School! She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre with a concentration in Performance & Directing from Northwestern State University in Louisiana, and earned her Texas Educator Certification in Theatre EC–12 in 2019. Before moving to Texas, she worked as an Adjunct Assistant Theatre Director at the high school level in Louisiana. In the summer of 2020 *shudder*, she and her husband made the move to Argyle, Texas, where she proudly joined the Grapevine Middle School family.
EXPERIENCE:
Mrs. Martin chose to teach middle school because she believes this age group represents the best of both worlds. Middle school students are eager to learn and rise to the challenge, yet still full of imagination and curiosity. At the high school level, her favorite productions she assistant directed were Beauty and the Beast, Fame, and Hairspray. Some of her favorite productions she has directed at GMS include Into the Woods Jr., The Little Mermaid Jr., Moana Jr., Willy Wonka Jr., Peter/Wendy, Where the Sky Meets the Sea, Rotten Apples, and Oz.
Mrs. Martin has been involved in theatre and music her entire life and has university level training in both music and vocal education. She is also SAFD certified in stage combat and is passionate about helping students explore all aspects of theatrical performance.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
Her teaching philosophy centers on the belief that theatre education goes far beyond the stage. It is not just about performance, but about discovering who you are. Through storytelling and collaboration, students build essential life skills such as communication, empathy, listening, and problem-solving. Most importantly, theatre gives students a place to belong… a space to be seen, heard, and valued.

When she is not teaching or directing, Mrs. Martin enjoys spending time with her husband and their golden retriever, Peach. She also enjoys reading, diving into her latest hyperfixation hobby, or spending quality time with family and friends.
